Advanced Woodworking
This course is a pilot trial to see if it works for members, and if we can deliver successfully. For this first iteration, registration is by invitation only.
Advanced woodworking is a skills-based class. Each session is an opportunity to participate in the build of one or more complicated projects selected by the instructor. Projects will not be repeated.
Students will have choice to build a version of the project for themselves, or to simply participate in the build of the project in order to learn the applicable skills and gain experience.
While each session will cover different skills based on the project selected, examples of more advanced skills that could be taught include;
- Template construction and use
- Angled joinery
- Advanced joinery (i.e. dovetails, sliding dovetails, lock mitre, box joints, mortise and tenon)
- Project design
- Composition
- Project planning
- Building mechanisms (i.e. automatic movements of furniture like folding or sliding)
- Wood bending
